Hyttelabs

Hyttelabs · studio for living technology

Technology with nature on the roof.

A one-person studio building quiet, living instruments for the home — rooted in Norwegian craft, made of real hardware and small, honest software.

Philosophy

The turf roof is the whole idea.

On a Norwegian torvtak, grass and moss grow on the shelter itself — the building and the living thing keep each other alive. That is the standard we hold our technology to: it should live with a home, not just sit in it.

Kvile — rest

Quiet by default

Everything works even if you never open the app. Automation carries the load; attention is optional, never demanded.

Levende — alive

Built for living things

Our instruments serve plants, seasons, and the people between them. Warm objects first, computers second.

Ærlig — honest

Real measurements, kind words

Sensors over guesses, celebration over nagging. Every notification should be good news or gentle encouragement.

Håndverk — craft

One pair of hands

Solo-built end to end — firmware, enclosures, and app from the same bench. Small batches, no filler features.

The goal is simple: a home where the technology breathes at the same pace you do.

Now growing

First out of the cabin: Chikorie.

Private pilot

Chikorie

A modular plant-care platform. Capacitive sensors read the soil, small nodes water automatically — and a Tamagotchi-hearted app celebrates with you instead of nagging you.
